Pressure loss in automatic filterFlowing Success

Industry leaders BOLL & KIRCH specialize in supplying reliable automatic filters for a variety of applications. As machinery is getting smaller and more complex, the need to have the right filter to weave out the impurities has become even more important. One of the most important design questions that they grapple with is pressure loss. Traditionally it has been very difficult to accurately measure the pressure loss experienced by a filter. Since their customers rely on data supplied by manufacturers in their designs, it is imperative that BOLL & KIRCH provide accurate and verifiable specifications.

Making Flow Visible

Glatt Ingenieurtechnik in Weimar is a development center performing development, planning and implementation tasks for the pharmaceuticals industry, among others. The plant construction division deals with fluidized bed technology, primarily for the food and feed sector and for the fine chemicals industry. They need to react flexibly to customer requirements as no two machines are exactly the same and each one is made according to customer specifications. As the machinary is relatively large and have to be rated for pressure and temperature, the modifications result in constantly new flow conditions.

Flow Simulation Right from the Predevelopment Phase

Grohe is renowned for the quality and attractiveness of its bathroom and kitchen taps. About five years ago, the company invested heavily in solid modeling technology for their design and development department. They further optimized their design process by recently investing in structural analysis (FEM), flow simulation (CFD) and rapid prototyping. Their new product range features the latest innovations discovered as a result of their optimized design process.
